Tidal
From the windows of my studio on the Shubenacadie River where it empties into the Cobequid Bay, I am a daily observer of the powerful Fundy tides.
As the tide churns the water and red mud beneath it twice daily, I see colours that I would never have expected to observe. Tide pools remain as gems of iridescent shades of purples, oranges, pinks, and golds. The water at high tide reflects the character of the sky, but whether glassy, calm or turbulent, it is also influenced by the red sand underneath. Rarely is the water ever just blue. Tidal is a gestural and vibrant response to the energy of the tidal waterway that I have been privileged to be influenced by for over 20 years. |
